janata ka aadamee – a poem by Alok Dhanwa

barf kaatane vaalee masheen se aadamee kaatane vaalee masheen tak
kaundhatee huee amaanaveey chamak ke virooddh
jalaten hue gaanvon ke beech se guzaratee hai meree kavita;
tez aag aur nukeelee cheekhon ke saath
jalee huee aurat ke paas
sabase pahale pahunchatee hai meree kavita;
jabakin aisa karate hue meree kavita jagah-jagah se jal jaatee hai
aur ve aaj bhee kavita ka istemaal murdaagaadee kee tarah kar rahe hain
shabdon ke phephadon mein naye muhaavaron ka oksee jan bhar rahe hain,
lekin jo karfyoo ke bheetar paida hua,
jisakee saans loo kee tarah garm hai
us naujavaan khaan mazadoor ke man mein
ek bilkul nayee bandooq kee tarah yaad aatee hai meree kavita.
jab kavita ke varjit pradesh mein
main ekabaaragee kaee karod aadamiyon ke saath ghusa
to un tamaam kaviyon ko
mera aana ek ashleel utpaat-sa laga
jo keval apanee suvidhaake lie
afeem ke paanee mein agale ravivaar ko chura lena chaahate the
ab meree kavita ek lee ja rahee jaan kee tarah bulaatee hai,
bhaasha aur lay ke bina, keval arth mein-
us garbhavatee aurat ke saath
jisakee naabhi mein sirf isalie golee maar dee gayee
ki kaheen ek eemaanadaar aadamee paida na ho jaay.

sade hue choohon ko nigalate-nigalate
jinake kanth mein atak gaya hai samay
jinakee aankhon mein akad gaye hain maree huee yaad ke chakatte
ve sada ke lie jangalon mein bas gaye hain –
aadamee se bachakar
kyon ki unakee jaangh kee sabase patalee nas mein
shabd shuroo hokar
jaangh kee sabase motee nas mein shabd samaapt ho jaate hain
bhaasha kee taazagee se ve apanee neeyat ko dhank rahe hain
bas ek bahas ke taur par
ve shreekaakulam jaisee jagahon ka bhee naam le lete hain,
ve ajeeb tarah se saphal hue hain is desh mein
mare hue aadamiyon ke naam se
ve jeevit aadamiyon ko bula rahe hain.

ve log peshevar khoonee hain
jo nangee khabaron ka gala ghont dete hain
akhabaar kee sanasaneekhez surkhiyon kee aad mein
ve baar-baar us ek chehare ke paalatoo hain
jisake peshaabaghar ka naqsha mere gaanv ke naqshe se bada hai.

barpheelee daraaron mein paayee jaane vaalee
ujalee jonkon kee tarah prakaashan sansthaen is desh kee:
hugalee ke kinaare aatmahatya karane ke pahale
kyon cheekha tha vah yuva kavi – ‘taims of india’
-usakee laash tak jaana bhee mere lie sambhav nahin ho saka
ki bhaade par laaya aadamee usake lie nahin ro saka
kyonki ise sabase pahale
aaj apanee asalee taaqat ke saath hamalaavar hona chaahie.

har baar kavita likhate-likhate
main ek visphotak shok ke saamane khada ho jaata hoon
ki aakhir duniya ke is behoode naqshe ko
mujhe kab tak dhona chaahie,
ki taink ke chen mein phanse laakhon gaanvon ke bheetar
ek samooche aadamee ko kitane ghanton tak sona chaahie?

kalakatte ke zoo mein ek gainde ne mujhase kaha
ki abhee svatantrata kaheen nahin hain, sab kaheen suraksha hai;
raajadhaanee ke sabase sur‍kshit hisse mein
paala jaata hai ek aadim ghaav
jo paida karata hai jangalee billiyon ke sahaare paashavik alagaav
tab se mainne tay kar liya hai
ki gainde kee kathin chamadee ka upayog yuddh ke lie nahin
balki ek apaar karoona ke lie hona chaahie.

main abhee maans par khude hue aksharon ko padh raha hoon-
zahareelee gaison aur khoonkhaar guptacharon se lais
is vyavastha ka ek adana sa aadamee
mere ghar mein kisee bhee samay zabardastee ghus aata hai
aur bijalee ke kodon se
meree maan kee jaangh
meree bahan kee peeth
aur meree betee kee chhaatiyon ko udhed deta hai,
meree khulee aankhon ke saamane
mere vot se lekar meree prajanan shakti tak ko nasht kar deta hai,
meree kamar mein rasse baandh kar
mujhe ghaseetata hua chal deta hai,
jabaki poora gaanv is nrshans drshy, ko
tamaashabeen kee tarah dekhata rah jaata hai.
kyonki ab tak sirf jel jaane kee kavitaen likhee gayeen
kisee sahee aadamee ke lie
jel uda dene kee kavitaen paida nahin hueen.

jab main taaze aur garm shabdon kee talaash mein tha-
hazaaron bistaron mein pichhale ravivaar ko paida hue bachche nishchint so rahe the,

meree kavita likhane vaalee qalam se thodee-see badee thee.
tabhee mujhe kone mein ve khade dikhaee de gaye, ve khade the – kone mein
bharee huee bandooqo kee tarah, saayaraano kee tarah, safed cheete kee tarah,
paathyakram kee tarah, badaboo aur sanvidhaan kee tarah.
ve abhibhaavak the,
meree pakad se baahar- kroor parajeevee,
unake lie main bilakul nihattha tha
kyonki shabdon se unaka kuchh nahin bigadata hai
jab tak ki unake paas saat senteemeetar lambee goliyaan hain
– raayafalon mein tanee-padee.
ve in bachchon ko bistaron se uthaakar
seedhe baaroodakhaane tak le jaayenge.
ve har tarah kee koshish karenge
ki in bachchon se meree jaan-pahachaan na ho
kyonki meree mulaaqaat unake baaroodakhaane mein aag kee tarah ghusegee.
main gahare jal kee aavaaz-sa utar gaya.
baahar hava mein, sadak par
jahaan achaanak mujhe faayar steshan ke draivaron ne pakad liya aur poochha-
aakhir is tarah aksharon ka bhavishy kya hoga ?
aakhir kab tak ham logon ko daudate hue damakalon ke sahaare yaad kiya jaata rahega ?
udhar yuva domon ne is baat par hadataal kee
ki ab ham shmashaan mein akaal-mrtyu ke murdon ko
sirf jalaayenge hee nahin
balki un murdon ke ghar tak jaayegen.
aksar kavita likhate hue mere ghutanon se
kisee agyaat samudr-yaatree kee naav takara jaatee hai
aur phir ek naye desh kee khoj shuroo ho jaatee hai-
us desh ka naam viyatanaam hee ho yah koee zarooree nahin
us desh ka naam baadh me bah gaye mere pita ka naam bhee ho sakata hai,
mere gaanv ka naam bhee ho sakata hai
main jis khalihaan mein ab tak
apanee fasalon, apanee panktiyon ko neelaam karata aaya hoon
usake naam par bhee yah naam ho sakata hai.
kyon poochha tha ek savaal mere puraane padosee ne-
main ek bhoomiheen kisaan hoon,
kya main kavita ko chhoo sakata hoon ?
abarakh kee khaan mein lahoo jalata hai jin yuva stanon aur balishth kandhon ka
unhen abarakh ‘abarakh’ kee tarah
jeevan mein ek baar bhee yaad nahin aata hai
kyon har baar aam zindagee ke savaal se
kavita ka savaal peechhe chhoot jaata hai ?

itihaas ke bheetar aadim yug se hee
kavita ke naam par jo jagahen khaalee kar lee jaatee hain-
vahaan in dinon charbee se bhare hue dibbe hee adhik jama ho rahe hain,
ek gahare neele kaanch ke bheetar
sukaant kee ikkees feet lambee tadapatee huee aant
nikaal kar rakh dee gayee hai,
kisee chir vidroh kee reedh paida karane ke lie nahin;
balki kavita ke azaayabaghar ko
pahale se aur ajooba banaane ke lie.
asaphal, boodhee premikaon kee bheed ikatthee karane vaalee
maheen tambaakoo jaisee kavitaon ke beech
bhedon kee gandh se bhara mera gadariye-jaisa chehara
aap logon ko behad apratyaashit laga hoga,
utana hee
jitana saahoo jain ke gla‍sa-taink mein
machhaliyon kee jagah tairatee huee gajaanan maadhav muktibodh kee laash.

bam visphot mein ghirane ke baad ka chehara meree hee kavitaon mein kyon hai?
main kyon nahin likh paata hoon vaisee kavita
jaisee bachchon kee neend hotee hai,
khaan hotee hai,
pake hue jaamun ka rang hota hai,
main vaisee kavita kyon nahin likh paata
jaisee maan ke shareer mein naye puaal kee mahak hotee hai,
jaisee baans ke jangal mein hiran ke paseene kee gandh hotee hai,
jaise kharagosh ke kaan hote hain,
jaise greeshm ke beehad ekaant mein
neele jal-pakshiyon ka mithun hota hai,
jaise samudree khohon mein leta hua khaara kattheepan hota hai,
main vaisee kavita kyon nahin likh paata
jaise hazaaro feet kee oonchaee se giranevaale jharane kee peeth hotee hai ?
haathee ke pairon ke nishaan jaise gambheer aksharon mein
jo kavita deevaaron par likhee hotee hai
kaee laakh halon ke oopar khudee huee hai jo
kaee laakh mazadooron ke tifin kairiyar mein
thandhee, kamazor rotee kee tarah letee huee hai jo kavita ?

ek mare hue bhaaloo se ladatee raheen unakee kavitaen
kavita ko ghudadaud kee jagah banaane vaale un sattebaazon kee
baazee ko tod sakata hai vahee
jise aap maamoolee aadamee kahate hai;
kyonki vah kisee bhee desh ke jhande se bada hai.
is baat ko vah mahasoos karane laga hai,
mahasoos karane laga hai vah
apanee peeth par likhe gaye saikadon upanyaason,
apane haathon se khodee gayee naharon aur sadakon ko

kavita kee ek mahaan sambhaavana hai yah
ki vah maamoolee aadamee apanee krtiyon ko mahasoos karane laga hai-
apanee taang par tike mahaanagaron aur
apanee kamar par tikee huee raajadhaaniyon ko
mahasoos karane laga hai vah.
dheere-dheere usaka chehara badal raha hai,
hal ke chamachamaate hue phaal kee tarah panjon ko
beej, paanee aur zameen ke sahee rishton ko
vah mahasoos karane laga hai.
kavita ka arth vistaar karate hue
vah jaasoosee kutton kee tarah shabdon ko khula chhod deta hai,
ek chhitakate hue kshan ke bheetar dekh leta hai vah
zanjeer ka akelaapan,
vah jaan chuka hai –
kyon ek aadivaasee bachcha ghoorata hai akshar,
lipi se darate hue,
itihaas kee sabase ghinaunee kitaab ka raaz kholate hue.
